The coin depicts a portrait of Ludovít Štúr, known in his time under the name Ludevít Velislav Štúr. He was a linguist, poet, journalist. He was also a Slovak political editor, professor and philosopher. He codified the Slovak language spoken in accordance with the Central Slovakia, organized Slovaks volunteers during the Slovak uprising of 1848 against the Kingdom of Hungary. He was a member of the Diet of the kingdom of Hungary.
