Coin dedicated to 2000th Anniversary of the death of Tito Livio. Titus Livius, known as Livy, was a Roman historian born in Patavium, northern Italy, now modern Padua. Livy's only surviving work is the "History of Rome" (Ab Urbe Condita), a monumental history of Rome and the Roman people that covers the period from the earliest legends of Rome, before the traditional foundation in 753 BC, through the reign of Augustus in Livy's own time. The work originally comprised 142 books written in Latin.
