Benito Franco Giuseppe Jacovitti was an Italian cartoonist and author of famous comic book characters such as Cocco Bill, Pop Corn and Jak Mandolino.
He is recognized as one of the most important authors of Italian comics of the twentieth century, characterized by a vast production of personal style and detailed with surreal details
such as salami or vermoni
which represent one of the most well-known identifying aspects. Jacovitti, not aligned with the cultural conformism of the seventies that, with the unfounded accusation of being fascist, precluded him some collaboration with some newspapers, then entered fully in the history of Italian comics, especially thanks to the caricatural form of his characters. His work has received critical acclaim and has often been interwoven with Italian history.
