2 euro coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Flight from Malta, UNC. The pilot who made the flight from Malta was Captain (Flight Cdr) Cecil Francis Kilner of the Royal Marines Light Infantry with one of the eight planes aboard the Ark Royal on February 13, 1915. When this historic event took place in the Grand Harbor, Captain Kilner had served in the RMLI for nearly 13 years. The plane that flew was a Short Admiralty 135 Type No. 136 biplane model, a machine with folding wings, and one of the first types of aircraft manufactured by the Brevi brothers.
