2020 – Italy – 5€ Monometallic BU in Coincard “Pizza”

5 euro monometallic coin in coincard dedicated to Pizza Margherita, pride of Italian cuisine imitated all over the world, Brilliant Uncirculated. ISSUE DATE: 21st APRIL 2020 This is the first coin of the new series "Italian Food and Wine Culture". Originally from Neapolitan cuisine, pizza is today, together with pasta, the best known Italian food abroad. In 2017 UNESCO declared the art of Neapolitan pizza maker as an intangible heritage of humanity. The first written mention of marinara pizza dates back to 1734, while that of pizza Margherita dates from 1796-1810. In June 1889, to honor the Queen of Italy Margherita di Savoia, the chef Raffaele Esposito prepared the "Pizza Margherita", a pizza topped with tomatoes, mozzarella and basil, to represent the colors of the Italian flag.
