5 euro silver coin dedicated to the city of Lecce and its Roman Baroque art, BU.
In addition to magnificent structures like the Church of Santa Croce, the pearl of Salento is dotted with small stone gems that peek out from seemingly unremarkable buildings, turning it into a true open-air museum. The Baroque style dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. 
It was during this period that sculptors, artisans, and artists gave rise to this sculptural and architectural style in the capital of Salento, creating unique works that, thanks to the malleable characteristics of Lecce stone, are also known as “opere de curtieddu” (works of the knife). 

White and amber yellow are the colors resulting from this craftsmanship by skilled hands, which have managed to imprint on the stone everything from infinitesimal details to opulent and exuberant decorations featuring cherubs, coats of arms, and elements of nature that seem poised to come to life at any moment.
