5 euro silver coin dedicated to Giovanni Spadolini, Proof.

Giovanni Spadolini (Florence 1925 – Rome 1994) was an Italian historian, journalist, and politician. A professor of contemporary history at the University of Florence, he directed Il Resto del Carlino (1955–68), Corriere della Sera (1968–72), and the journal Nuova Antologia. Elected senator in 1972 with the Italian Republican Party (PRI), he held prominent positions and eventually became the first non-Catholic (secular) Prime Minister in the history of the Italian Republic.
