Luca Signorelli was an Italian painter, considered among the greatest interpreters of Renaissance painting.
Signorelli played an active role in the institutions of the city of Cortona: twelve times, between 1480 and 1523, he was prior, he was elected ten times in the Council of eighteen and twelve times in the General Council.
From 1470 he was active in Cortona as an independent painter, receiving commissions for banners for religious brotherhoods and objects of decorative art, all lost works, but remembered by the documents of the time and that show us how initially the artist followed the family tradition of painters-artisans.
