Michelangelo Buonarroti was an artist with a thousand facets: painter, sculptor, architect and also poet.
Initiated to the humanities under the guidance of Francesco da Urbino, Michelangelo has immediately manifested artistic tendencies. Encouraged by Francesco Granacci, he managed to convince his father and family and in April 1488, he entered as an apprentice in the workshop of the painters Domenico and David Ghirlandaio. Since 1489 he preferred to visit the Medici gardens of San Marco, to study the ancient sculptures and modern cartons and learn the techniques of sculpture under the guidance of Bertoldo di Giovanni, student and collaborator of Donatello.
