The impressive Bridge 25 de Abril, also known as Salazar Bridge, is one of the icons of Lisbon, Portugal. The suspension bridge that crosses the river and connects the capital to Almada, is often compared to the Golden Gate in San Francisco. Inaugurated in August 1966, the bridge has a length of 2.277 kilometers. Its name alludes to the Carnation Revolution that took place on 25 April 1974 and restored the democracy in Portugal.
