2 euro coin dedicated to the Hill of Crosses of Šiauliai, UNC. The Hill of Crosses is a pilgrimage site and tourist destination located near the Lithuanian city of Šiauliai. It is a small hill on which more than four hundred thousand crosses stand, planted out of devotion by pilgrims according to a popular tradition that has lasted for several centuries, but which took a huge boost in the second half of the twentieth century as a symbol of Lithuanian national identity. In 1900 there were only 130 crosses on the hill.
