2 euro commemorative coin. Dimitris Mitropoulos was a Greek conductor, pianist and composer. He spent most of his career in the United States. He died on November 2, 1960, at La Scala in Milan, shortly after the beginning of the 3rd Symphony (Mahler) essay. The drawing depicts Dimitri Mitropoulos on a background of musical notes.
