2 euro commemorative coin. The obverse of the coin depicts a painter's palette, the descending spirit and the Swan of Tuonela. The figure on the reverse is an homage to Gallen-Kallela's prints. Akseli Gallen-Kallela was a Swedish-speaking Finnish painter who is best known for his illustrations of the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic. His work was considered very important for the Finnish national identity.
