Honoré V Grimaldi was sovereign of the Principality of Monaco from 1819 to 1841.
He still undertook a young military career in the French cavalry at the age of 20, until he became an officer in the employ of Marshal Emmanuel de Grouchy.
Honoré was an exemplary soldier and was quoted many times for his courage shown in the field.
In 1819, upon the death of his father, Honoré became the sovereign prince of the Principality of Monaco under the name of Honoré V.
