The Lettera 22, presented in 1950, is a famous portable mechanical typewriter made by Olivetti.
This portable machine presents important innovations in design and in the technical part with new kinematics, and is the progenitor of a new family of Olivetti typewriters.
She was a working companion for many writers and journalists, including Enzo Biagi and Indro Montanelli.
The rounded lines chosen by the designer M. Nizzoli, the compactness of the machine, the elegance of the keyboard incorporated in the bodywork, the completely hidden roller and the reduced size of the spacing lever have decreed the stylistic success of the machine.
In Italy it was awarded in 1954 with the Compasso d'Oro. The machine is exhibited at the MOMA (The Museum of Modern Art) in New York in the Architecture and Design section.
