5 euro Bimetallic coin dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Carabinieri Command for the protection of Cultural Heritage, PROOF.
UNTIL STOCK LASTS
The origins of the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage date back to May 3, 1969, when the General Command of the Corps decided to establish, at the Ministry of Public Education, the Core of Artistic Heritage Protection.
The intention was to deal with the alarming phenomenon of the depletion of the largest museum in the world, Italy, with effective tools and targeted interventions.
The chosen venue was the historic Palazzetto designed by the architect Filippo Raguzzini, a lively expression of late Baroque architecture in the historic and suggestive Piazza di Sant’Ignazio, very dear to the heart of the Romans and an important destination for cultural tourism.
Italy was thus the first nation in the world to have a police organization specialized in the specific sector, anticipating the recommendation of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
